Lake Placid Friends of the Library Sponsors Free Fall Symposium on Aging

Share

The Lake Placid Friends of the Library is sponsoring a free, five-part Fall Symposium on Aging at the Lake Placid Memorial Library, bringing the community together for honest conversations about the challenges, concerns and opportunities that come with growing older. The symposium is the idea of Lake Placid resident Linda Nelson, inspired by James Michener’s novel Recessional. Nelson hopes participants will share experiences, ask questions and exchange ideas in an open dialogue about aging and the tools that can help people navigate the years ahead.

The five sessions will explore the emotional and philosophical aspects of aging, health and wellness, common medical concerns, financial planning, and living arrangements and end-of-life planning. Nelson will lead the first two sessions, with additional presentations by financial professionals and representatives from assisted living and funeral services.

The symposium is free and open to anyone interested in joining the conversation. Participants are encouraged to come with questions, a willingness to listen and an openness to learning from others.
