Lake Placid and Highlands County’s first Garden Week are receiving attention beyond the local area.
WGCU recently featured the six-day event in a story highlighting Lake Placid’s caladium industry and the annual Caladium Festival that helped inspire the new countywide celebration.
The article, “Something new is blooming in the Caladium Capital,” introduces readers across Southwest Florida to Garden Week and several of the more than 40 garden, nature, art and outdoor experiences taking place in Lake Placid, Sebring and Avon Park through Sunday.
The feature comes as Lake Placid has received other attention outside Highlands County, including a recent online survey that placed the town first on a list of communities with untapped tourism potential.
