Lake Placid Little League is accepting registrations for its 2026 fall baseball season through Sept. 20. Registration costs $100 per player, and the season will run from Oct. 5 through Nov. 20. Practice and game schedules will be announced after registration closes, when organizers know how many players and teams will participate.
League organizers do not want registration fees to prevent a child from playing. Sponsorship assistance may be available for families that need help with the cost. Parents and guardians can contact the league at lpyouthbaseball@gmail.com for information.
A Reason to Get Outside and Join a Team
For children growing up with phones, tablets, and gaming always within reach, baseball offers something different: time outside, regular physical activity and face-to-face connections with teammates and coaches, and the need for those opportunities is clear. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey, only 24.6% of high school students reported getting at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Just over half—51.9%—reported playing on at least one school or community sports team.
Little League also gives children experiences that extend beyond learning how to hit, throw or catch. Players learn to practice, cooperate, accept coaching, handle disappointment and show up when other people are counting on them.
Some players may become standout athletes, but Little League is not just for the stars. It is a recreational program where children can learn the game, improve at their own pace and experience being part of a team. All players benefit from being part of a team.
Charity Bingo Will Benefit Local Players
The community can also support Lake Placid Youth Baseball and Softball during a Charity Bingo fundraiser Monday, Sept. 14, at Beef O’Brady’s in Lake Placid. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with bingo beginning at 6 p.m. The event will include bingo, prizes and food. All proceeds will benefit the Lake Placid Youth Baseball and Softball League.
