Lake Placid residents have an opportunity to help shape the future of Bicentennial Park as the Town considers options for updating the nearly 50-year-old park. During a community presentation Wednesday evening at the Dal Hall Building, Jim Lassiter of GameTime shared several options and renderings for new playground equipment and park improvements. The presentation was part of the Town’s effort to gather public input as it prepares an application for funding through the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP), a state grant program that supports public recreation projects. The presentation was facilitated by 33852 Connect.
Residents who were unable to attend can view the presentations at the Lake Placid Municipal Center. An online survey is also available for residents to share their preferences and suggestions.

A Park Built by the Community
Bicentennial Park opened in 1976, the year the nation celebrated its 200th anniversary. The park was made possible through the generosity of local organizations and individual donors who contributed to its development. Monte Delaney served as chairman of the Bicentennial Park Committee, which helped bring the project to life. A time capsule was also buried on the property intended to be opened in 2076.
Residents Can Still Have Their Say
Public participation is part of the Town’s grant application process, and residents are encouraged to complete the online survey. The survey provides an opportunity to identify preferred playground features and help guide plans for the park’s redevelopment.
Residents can also visit the Municipal Center to review the proposed designs before submitting their comments.
