Lake Placid’s new Chamber of Commerce director officially started this week, but she is not new to the community.
She has lived in Lake Placid for five years and says this is where she wants to be. The town feels familiar to her, much like the small Pennsylvania town where she grew up. The opportunity came after a couple of people approached her because they thought she might be interested in the position and capable of taking it on.
Her background includes a wide range of experience, most recently in Medicare insurance, along with previous work in the event industry and the music industry in Nashville, Tennessee. That experience is part of what she hopes to bring into the role, especially as she looks at ways to expand events in Lake Placid.

One idea she mentioned is a music festival, though she is still new in the position and in the early stages of listening, learning and identifying what is realistic.
Her first impression is that the Chamber has growth potential. She pointed to Lake Placid’s work-from-home community as one example of a group that could be better connected to local businesses and community life.
For her, the Chamber’s role comes down to communication: helping businesses be seen, heard and connected. She said she is a passionate leader, motivated and ready to bring new energy to the organization.
One challenge, she said, will be building on the best of Lake Placid while helping bridge the gap between older ways of thinking and new ideas.
For now, her focus is on getting settled, listening to business owners and the upcoming Caldium Festival.
The Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)6 organization located at 18 North Oak. Avenue, https://www.lpfla.com/
