The Town of Lake Placid is moving forward with interviews for two finalists seeking to become the town’s next administrator.
Each of the four Town Council members will interview both candidates before the council considers making a selection. Mayor Colleen Charles said she hopes the council will be prepared to approve a candidate during a special Town Council meeting scheduled for Aug. 27.The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Lake Placid Government Center, 1069 U.S. 27 N. The town’s previously scheduled budget workshop for that evening has been canceled.
The Town Administrator position has been vacant since Charlette Rodriguez resigned in June. Lake Placid Police Chief Mark Schneider has served as interim town administrator while the town conducts its search. The administrator is responsible for overseeing the town’s departments and employees and carrying out policies approved by the Town Council.
The town is also advertising several other open positions:
- Senior Director of Public Works/Water and Wastewater
- Groundskeeper/Horticulture
- Sanitation Driver
- Utility Meter Reader
- Utility Compliance Coordinator
The number of openings reflects staffing needs across administration, public works, sanitation and the town’s utility system.
