Lake Placid Town Administrator Charlette Rodriguez resigned Monday morning effective July with a stated last day of July 10. The Town accepted her resignation under the terms of the employment agreement she submitted to the Town Council earlier this year.
The agreement, submitted and approved Jan. 20, includes the following resignation provision:
Resignation by Employee. Employee may resign her Employment by providing no less than four (4) weeks’ written notice. Upon receiving Employee’s resignation notice, the Town may, in its sole discretion, elect to immediately separate Employee’s employment and pay Employee’s base salary in lieu of having her work out the remainder of her notice period. In the event of Employee’s resignation, Employee shall not be entitled to severance pay.
The Town invoked the immediate separation provision.
“I have accepted her resignation, and in accordance with the terms of her employment agreement, today was her final working day with the Town,” Mayor Colleen Charles said. Immediate separation after a resignation is common in higher-level administrative positions, especially where the position involves access to personnel, financial, banking, and legal and operational matters.
“I want to thank Charlette for her service and wish her well in her future endeavors,” Charles said. Charles also thanked town employees for their continued work during the transition. “We have a strong staff, and I have full trust and confidence in the work you do every day for our residents,” Charles said. “Your professionalism and dedication are what keep this Town moving forward. My priority is to continue to support you and ensure stability for our organization.”
Police Chief Mark Schneider has been approved by the Town Council to serve as interim town administrator. At its next meeting, the Council is expected to review the job description for the town administrator position before beginning the search for a permanent replacement.
